The Heart of the Redeemer is a community of disciples on mission.
We are called to live, work and strive, by the power of the Holy Spirit,
so that others might have true life in Christ, now and forever.
About Us
We are named Heart of the Redeemer Covenant Community – and are located in the Kansas City metro area. The seeds of covenant community in Kansas City began to sprout as early as 2008, and the first Fan Into Flame retreat happened in the fall of 2009. It was from this retreat that a vision of shared community life began to take shape.
With much help and generosity from the Community of Christ the Redeemer over the years, we have grown today to be a community of 40 covenant members, 30 brothers and sisters in formation, and over 90 children in our youth program! We are grateful to have recently entered an affiliate commitment with the Sword of the Spirit and look forward to what the Lord has for us in this season!

Yes! HRCC is a “private association of the Christian faithful*”, an approved canonical organization in the Catholic Church, under the authority of Archbishop Naumann. New movements like HRCC have been strongly affirmed by the Church, including our recent popes.

One of the first things you notice when you walk into a HRCC gathering is the enthusiastic worship! We love to worship the Lord freely, using our bodies and lifting our voices to him in praise and gratitude for who he is and all he’s done. This style of worship is old and traditional, prevalent in the Bible and the early Church. It has become more common again in recent decades through the “charismatic renewal”, which emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit in the Christian life, including growing in the charismatic gifts (see 1 Corinthians 12), and has been encouraged by the Church.

In communities like HRCC, commitments are the backbone of building strong and stable relationships and environments that endure. No commitment is needed to simply get to know HRCC. If someone desires to go further, there are three main stages:
“Initial” commitment to formation, small group, and some other aspects of HRCC life.
“Underway” commitment to participate fully in HRCC for a period of time, e.g. 1-2 years.
Public commitment to HRCC long-term whereby we commit ourselves to one another and to the mission of HRCC indefinitely. We’re in it together, through thick and thin for the long haul.
